Move on up to the beautiful oceanfront cottage “The Lazy Whale.” Located at the ocean end of a long drive “TLW” has one carport, outside shower, an oceanfront heated pool with hot tub and wide furnished sundecks. The beach access is about a 250’ walk across a lovely natural sand dune. On the first living level bedrooms one and two have queens, TV/DVDs, and deck access. Bedroom three is an oceanfront master with king, TV/DVD, deck access, and full bath. A full bath and laundry nook are close to bedroom four with two sets of bunks and TV/VCR. Upstairs “TLW’s” great room shines with tall cathedral ceiling, half bath, comfy resort furnishings, and large screen TV/DVD and entertainment center. Absolutely stunning ocean views are available from the wide furnished east sundeck. Sunsets do not get any better than on “TLW’s” west facing sundeck. A large well equipped tiled kitchen has a breakfast bar and is close to oceanfront dining area. The third level furnished loft has a telescope and ocean sundeck. “The Lazy Whale” is the queen of the coast.

The pool and hot tub are good, and everything works as expected. The layout of the house is very comfortable, although you have to go through the bedrooms to reach the pool area: there are no stairs down on the upper deck levels. This is probably helpful if you have dogs and want to segregate them. The house sticks out farther than any other in the area, and the 3rd fl. deck is the highest, too, so the views are terrific. The walk to the beach is not short, but frankly, if you can't handle it, you shouldn't be staying in the OBX. Surfers note: there are NO waves here b/c of a major offshore shoal. On the other hand, this makes it perfect for families looking for gentle waves. Beach is uncrowded in this area, very few folks around. House could use some attention (missing door handle, curtains missing from some windows) but for the price, this place is a steal. | | | The Henry | For a roof over your head for a week this property is good.
