Outer Banks Windsurfing and Kiteboarding

Experience Hatteras Winds!

Rising from their long journey in the Atlantic, and building steep faces and white creamy tops, are some of the best waves along the Atlantic seaboard. Surfers, body surfers, kiteboarders, windsurfers, boogey boarders and children with rafts ride these faces and experience the thrill of riding the wild surf.

As owner of Hatteras Realty and a surfer for more than 30 years, I feel it is important to cater to family groups that come to enjoy the beaches and waves of Hatteras Island. I've traveled throughout the world and experienced the best surfing waves this planet has to offer. A short journal of my travels would include South Africa, Europe, North Africa, Australia, Central America, and Hawaii. For seven years of my life I followed the waves around the world. A good wave is a good wave no matter where it breaks, and when Hatteras gets good, it's good.

Now 20 years and 50 pounds later, I still enjoy the wonder of the sport and the thrill of dropping down the face and watching the almond eye rise over my head. Many of our beachfront homes provide direct access to the shores and waves that attract surfers from all over the world.

One of the fortunate geographic features of Hatteras Island is its elbow shape. When the wind is on shore on one side, it is usually offshore on the other. So when you are standing at the foot of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the wave magnet doesn't seem to be working and the wind is terrible sideshore, just maybe the swell will be hitting and the wind will be offshore on the beaches in Frisco or Hatteras Village. Got any wax, dude?
