July 4th is one week away!

Both Hatteras & Ocracoke Islands have awesome family friendly festivities to help you celebrate Independence Day!

Ocracoke Island

Celebrate the 4th a day early on Ocracoke Island!

July 3rd

6pm - 8pm: Ocracoke Square Dance @ The Berkley Manor Barn

9:15pm: Fireworks Display @ Silver Lake

July 4th

8-10am: Meet Captain - the newest stallion at Ocracoke's pony heard at the NPS Pony Pens. Public can feed the rest of the herd and also view ponies from another deck. 

9am: Flag Raising and the National Anthem @ Ocracoke School

9:30am - Noon: 40th Annual Sand Sculpture Contest @ NPS Lighthouse Beach

Cash prizes and special trophy created by island artist Susan Dodd for Best in Show. Judged and people's choice awards. Awards held at 5:30pm at Books to Be Red Lawn

10am - 2pm: Classic Car Show @ Pony Island Lawn

Check out vintages cars out on the lawn sponsored by Jimmy's Garage!

10am - 2pm: Ocracoke Lighthouse Viewing @ Ocracoke Lighthouse

All are welcome to see the inside, no climbing

10am - 2pm: Scavenger Hunt @ Books to Be Red stage

Compete individually or as a team throughout the entire village. 

4pm: Old Time Independence Day Parade @ Ocracoke Oyster Co to NPS Parking Lot

Featuring a procession of floats, walkers, decorated golf cars, and bicycles. The parade will travel through the village to the NPS parking lot. This year's theme is the "300th Anniversary of Blackbeard's Last Day". Blackbeard himself will be the grand marshal! 

7:30-11pm: Glow in the Dar Laser Show & Dance Party @ Ocracoke Community Park

Wear your glow-in-the-dark gear and dance to music from the last five decades, all with special laser effects. There will be interactive games, contests, giveaways and fun for all ages. Admission: $5/person

July 5th

7-9pm: Community Beach Bonfire Under the Stars @ Ocracoke Day Use/Lifeguard Beach

Bring your beach blankets, chairs, marshmallows, and roasting sticks. S'mores will be provided for the first 80 attendees. 

 

Hatteras Island 

July 4th 

5:30pm: 6th Annual Golf Cart Parade @ Hatteras Village

Head down to Hatteras Village to watch the Annual July 4th Golf Cart Parade! Golf carts will be decorated in celebration of the 4th and will be making a loop around Hatteras Village.

6pm: Community Cookout @ Hatteras Village Center

Residents and visitors are welcome to come get a fresh off the grill burger or hot dog for FREE! Optional beverages will be available for purchase. 

6pm - 8pm: Concert feature Mary Joy @ Hatteras Village Center

Grab yourself some goodies off the grill and listen to the musical stylings of Hatteras Island's very own Mary Joy!

7pm: July 4th Celebration @ Koru Beach Klub

Start the 4th off right with a live concert at the Beach Klub! Southern Accents - A Tribute to Tom Petty will be jamming the night away! After the concert, catch the fireworks display right from the Beach Klub's oceanfront deck! Tickets:  $15/Person

8:30pm: Virtual Fireworks Display @ Hatteras Village Center

They're not real, but the experience is! Projections of the fireworks display will be shown outside for all who desire the experience but don't feel like leaving the peace of Hatteras Village to seek it! 

9:15pm: Fireworks Display @ Avon Fishing Pier

Come out early and grab a spot on the beach for a front row seat to the firework display. Parking is limited, so take advantage of Avon's Bike Path to walk or bike over the beach. Arrive early for the best seats!

Club Hatteras Pool will be open late on July 4th! Bring the family over for an early swim in the pool and then stay to watch the fireworks display right from the pool deck.
