Celebrate the artistic community on Hatteras Island May 25-June 5 at Dare County Arts Council’s 7th Annual Rock The Cape Festival.

This year’s Rock The Cape Concert will be held at REAL Watersports in Waves on Friday, June 5, 2020. The soundfront concert will feature live music by two different bands. Stay tuned for more details.

Doors will open at 6pm for the family-friendly concert, which will also feature a kids’ arts and crafts tent.

The sunset concert at REAL Watersports is a fundraiser for Dare County Arts Council’s programming and events on Hatteras Island.

Concert tickets will be available to purchase when the music lineup is announced.  Kids 12 and under are free.

You can indulge in drinks at Waterman's Bar & Grill or enjoy the grass lawn area on a blanket or beach chair while listening to the music and watching the sun set.

The Rock The Cape Art Show at the Rodanthe/Waves/Salvo Community Center will be happening from 9am to 1pm on Memorial Day (May 25). Admission to this indoor/outdoor art show is free and visitors will enjoy live music while checking out local arts and crafts.

There will be multiple art-inspired happenings in Avon, Buxton and Hatteras Village between the two keystone events, including book signings, more live music, art workshops and the Rock The Cape Art Gallery Tour.

Rock the Cape was started in 2012 as an initiative to celebrate the galleries, artists, and artistic community on Hatteras Island. The annual event is held at the beginning of summer as a way to kick off Hatteras’ busy season.

Businesses interested in sponsoring Rock The Cape should contact Dare County Arts Council’s Executive Director Chris Sawin at DareArtsInfo@gmail.com.

This project is funded in part by the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau.
