Everyone loved having their own bathrooms! My old parents happily used the elevator often to go up and down! The kitchen was fully equipped! Loved having two ovens!!! We were there during the beach renourishment so that was cool to watch. The beach walks were so fun! Loved how close we were to the lighthouse! It will be interesting to see what happens to the houses in front as time goes by. It’s so sad what happened to Buxton after the fall storms of 2025! It definitely changed the landscape! There were some broken blinds and TVs and lack of TV remotes but didn’t really mind. Didn’t watch much TV. Some broken light boxes outside and bulbs needed. Fantastic sunrises! Plenty of room by the pool! The beds were so comfortable, we all slept like babies. The house had everything we needed. We cooked several large meals and never ran out of plates or silverware! Just don’t forget your beach towels! We were saddened by the impact last years storms had on the area. The houses in front of us have some tough decisions to make. That said, it made watching the beach restoration process in progress fascinating! We can’t wait to come back and see the progress. We highly recommend this house and the rental company!!! - Chris Posted on 8/3/2026 ### (4/5 stars) The location of the home was very convenient to have access to the beach; however due to the ongoing rebuild, we had alot of debris in the sand which made it difficult to walk without getting your foot poked. (Even with flip flops on) The home was nice. Needs repairs made on the deck (a few of the bars werent nailed in), kitchen (busted drawers/handles) and door knobs on the front deck was rusted (huge safety hazard) and the lights were missing/burnt out. There was also a lack of bath towels, 2 per room was not enough when you have families of 4 staying there. Top floor mattress has a huge dip or a hole in it which makes it uncomfortable. Outside pool area needs landscaping done. Lots of weeds. We were very comfortable with the cleanliness (but needs deep cleaning, some maintenance soon). Everything was functional. House/deck are more weathered than the photos (cosmetic). SLOW responses from Hatteras Realty. Example, it took two days to get the WiFi password. House rules not anywhere (trash days, pickup rules; checkout rules, etc.) At arrival, three cans were at street; Monday, only one was picked up. Why? Prior to arrival, no communication about the status of the beach. We had no idea what conditions we should expect. We found that bare feet would be very bad idea (debris from recent house collapses). Hurricanes and nor’easters are routine for Buxton but not us. Pre arrival status updates would have been nice! Any information would have been nice. We did get some info two plus months before arrival but it was a battle! Kitchen was spacious and having two stoves, microwaves and dishwashers was really helpful. There was a strange lack of forks - only a dozen forks in a house that sleeps 16! Other than the fork issue, the kitchen had plenty of the basics we needed. The common areas were spacious so we could all be together and the pool area was good. The decks were great although the furniture is getting pretty weather-worn. Overall, the house is pretty good. Our main complaint is with Vacasa and their lack of communication. The beach access shown in the house description does not exist anymore - that beach is gone because of erosion. The beach to the south is closed to the public because of petroleum contamination from a former military base. This should have been communicated to us before our stay. Also, when the sea is rough and tides are very high there is significant overwash in the shared driveway and parking area. Vacasa sent us an email warning about parking our cars on the street - TWO DAYS AFTER the overwash started. We really feel that these things should have been communicated to us before our stay so we could have planned accordingly, instead we had to work things out for ourselves and make do. Also the fridge leaked a couple of times during the week into the bedroom below it. It wasn’t anything major. The house overall was amazing and fit the 14 of us very well. I loved that the main room and kitchen we’re on the third floor giving us all the sunlight and the best views. It was great that it had an elevator and had a bathroom and bedroom on the bottom floor that was handicapped accessible.
