One of Hatteras Island’s signature fall fishing events, the NCBBA Red Drum Tournament brings anglers to the beaches of Cape Hatteras for 60 hours of surf fishing. Hosted by the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association, the tournament is open to individual anglers, with an optional team competition for groups of three to six.
Anglers choose their own fishing spots within designated areas of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and compete for prizes for red drum, bluefish and sea mullet, along with special youth, senior and ladies divisions. The event also includes fishing seminars and an awards celebration in Buxton.
Fishing: October 21 at 6 p.m. – October 24 at 6 a.m.
Registration & Check-In: Avon Firehouse
Awards Ceremony: October 24, Noon–3 p.m., Buxton
