NEW FOR 2026: A new washer, dryer, fridge, tile floors in the dining room and kitchen, and a completely renovated top-floor bathroom!!! Sound FX is a four-bedroom, three-bath, sound-front home in Avon. The private dock and two-tier deck help to highlight the best sunset views while enjoying the soothing small splash sounds that come from the waters just below. The first floor is home to the kitchen, a study, a double-sized bedroom, a living room with a large flatscreen TV, and a dining room. With plenty of windows inside and out, you will never feel too far from the water. Upstairs you will find the remaining bedrooms that include a primary king-sized bedroom suite with a small lounging space and private TV, a separate large king-sized bedroom, and a third queen-sized bedroom. Enjoy outdoor dining on the deck or practice any number of watersports on the sound. Whether you're here for kayaking, standup paddleboarding, or kitesurfing, or you just want to drop a line and go fishing, there is something for everyone at Sound FX.

Loved the house! The view by the water was beautiful! So relaxing! My husband and I have come to the OBX for over 30 years and never stayed anywhere south of Nags Head until this past week. We loved the small town of Avon. So calm and quiet it was a wonderful week.

The house is spectacular inside for families and for location. It was more than what we expected and we truly wish we could’ve stayed two weeks. We can’t wait to go back and enjoy the best view in the whole island and the peaceful serenity it brings as well. Please book because you will not be disappointed.

Comfortable and classy. Kids caught fish from dock. Can walk to beach and nearby Dairy Queen. Highly recommend.

No better view on the bay, and perfect place to launch a paddle board or fish from the dock. The deck provides shaded morning and early afternoon views and quiet. There are ample sleeping rooms and a fabulously sized master suite upstairs. Remember, it is an older house with older furniture, some of which is quite worn. But is very comfortable and located in a quiet community. If you are a little forgiving on details, the house makes for a restful beach week. No road noise. Quiet.

The views from house, especially at sunset, are spectacular. The master bedroom is enormous. The location is quiet, and very convenient for wind and water sports. The house was clean and everything was in good working order :)

House was as advertised. Kitchen was well stocked, comfortable beds and was very clean at check in. We really enjoyed the view from the deck and pier. Sunsets were unreal

We loved the house but the door handle really needs replaced. The door is hard to shut and our kids were never able to shut it properly. Great week, the pool awesome!

The house was wonderful, clean , right on the water. Wish we caught some fish and brought our paddle boards. Would highly recommend this home and stay. Would be back or rent through Vacasa again. Thank you

The house was spotless at checkin. The view of- and access to the Pamlico Sound is amazing. Kitchen has everything you need. Plenty of bathrooms and some space to relax. Probably not best pick for 6-8 larger adults.

Nice environment, inside and outside. I am a windsurfer, this house does not have windsports storage in a protected area but other than that this location worked well for me launching off the bulkhead in ne, se and w winds.

This house has a fantastic sound view. Wonderful sunsets and a variety of birds to watch. Perfect for fishing, kayaking or wind sports. The house isn’t plush but has everything you need. On a bad weather day, sit in the sunroom and watch the storm roll across the sound.

My family loved the location, quietness and features the property has to offer. Short walk to the beach; Bring your kayaks right to the property!! The Vacasa team had the prepped the property so well. Smooth Check-in and Check-out.

The Sound FX property was well appointed and everything was in working order. Everything was very clean, the beds were clean and comfy. The unobstructed view of the sound from both decks was outstanding. We watch the cormorants and pelicans diving for fish many times. Overall we had a great stay at the Sound FX property, we would definitively book it again but next time in a warmer month.

Sound FX is located on a large lot that is a point sticking out into the sound. A canal on each side means you have 180 degree view over water. Watch, or participate, in wind sports, kayak, or fish off the dock. The sunsets are awesome.

Location away from the main road makes for a quiet place. Being on the water is ideal for using kayaks or SUPs, the inlets are somewhat protected. Easy walk to the beach via public path between houses on ocean side.
