The property was as advertised, the rooms were a decent size, and bedding was sufficient for a family of 4. Even though the square footage seemed small by number, the layout of the living area made it feel much bigger. The screened porch and roof top balcony really extended the usable space. One of the best perks was how close the beach access was. The house was about 25 yards from the beach access, and then about 100 yards over the dune walkway to the beach. The beach was very large with good depth and transition. Only complain was the check in time of 5PM. Even at 5PM the house cleaner was still there until about 515PM.

You can actually see the ocean from the top balcony. Adorable little place. Comfortable and lots of outdoor seating to listen to the ocean in the evenings. Can walk to lots of places to eat and shop. I’d recommend visiting the pool off Kinakeet blvd over the Vacasa pool. We have stayed with Vacasa in the OBX before so we went to that pool out of habit. On the last day we went to the Kinakeet pool and were sad we didn’t go sooner. It’s very nice and much quieter.

Vacasa customer service was great with easy checkout. Pelican’s Roost was clean and well maintained. The rooftop deck was fun- we had a great view of Avon’s fireworks and saw 3 shooting stars during our stay. Easy walk to the beach as well!

The location was great. We staid 2 weeks and enjoyed the comfy cottage. We have been coming to Avon since 1985 and would considered coming back to this cottage in the future.

Pelicans Roost was a perfect little place for my family's vacation. The top deck offers some beach views. Easy 5 minute walk to the back and local restaurants, the location can't be beat. It was very affordable and we would definitely stay there again.

We absolutely loved this property! My only recommendations: 1) since it is required to sweep/vacuum it would have been great to have a proper vacuum. The one that was there did not really pick up anything (especially the sand). We empty the dust buster but the suction was very weak. We were able to sweep but had trouble with the carpet on the stairs. 2) There were four chairs on the upper deck that were extremely flimsy. We are not big people at all and the legs were very flimsy and felt like they would break/give out. They had 2 nice chairs (they went with the table on the top deck but they were located on the bottom deck and were way too heavy to move up especially because there are no stairs connecting the bottom deck to the top except through the house). My recommendation would be to have some better chairs - plastic is okay but these plastic chairs were the cheapest, flimsiest chairs I have ever seen. I would worry that if someone a little bigger sat in this chair, it would give out. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.
