With the ocean within walking distance, this two-story getaway is a fantastic destination for those looking to play on the sand, splash in the surf, and soak up the abundant sunshine in the summer. Step inside this spacious home and discover a vibrant and open living area beneath a vaulted ceiling, a well-equipped, full kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a dining area with seating for six for mealtimes or family game nights. The screened and furnished sunroom includes a picnic table and a gas grill for warm weather cookouts, while additional decks and upper-level balconies offer partial ocean glimpses across the neighboring rooftops. This vacation rental also boasts a private, seasonal pool for when you want to cool off close to home.
Off season surveillance cameras are posted but not in use during the season.
Please Note: As a barrier island, Hatteras is constantly changing. Beach conditions, dunes, and access points may vary due to erosion, restoration projects, weather, and other environmental factors.

Great place and a great location. The exterior could use a little updating though, specially repairing the screens on the screen porch and screen door.

House decor and cleaning was exceptional!! Love this place and will book again next year. Only recommendations I would make is deep/power washing around pool & pool furniture. And some upkeep to decks and screened in porch.

First time in OBX. The house was cozy and secluded and as advertised by the pictures. A short walk to the beach, great food and restaurants, and we did not have to wait at all. The house was private and set back and lined with trees.

Home Away From Home

My husband & I took the week to work from a different location. We enjoyed the beach, a bike ride & ate out during the week. This house was comfortable, clean & well appointed. Would stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at the sugar bean shack. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed to feel at home. There were even some beach items there for use.

A near perfect getaway

The Sugar Bean Shack has a lot to offer when it comes to staying in the Outer Banks. While it is not ocean front, it is a short walk to the nearest public boardwalk and the trees around the property help provide privacy. The pool and hot tub were highlights during our stay. They were both clean and the hot tub was overall functional, aside from a few water jets. The pool was surrounded by many comfortable seating options. There is no shortage of deck/balcony space, so you can enjoy a cup of coffee with different views each day. The bathrooms appear to be recently renovated with newer sinks and the showers water pressure is great. The couch in the living room was wonderful after a day out on the beach, not to mention all of the TV’s have a Roku so you can enjoy your favorite content. This is more of a nod towards Vacasa, but the addition of a coded lock is perfect. In my past travels to the Outer Banks, an in-person check in was required to gather keys and linens. The check in process was very quick and easy. We’ll definitely consider revisiting this cottage for future stays!

Great stay!

The house was lovely! Loved the heated pool and inflatable hot tub. It was just enough for 4 people. Very private. Although no ocean views, there was a 2 minute drive to the public access beach. The mudroom of the house was well stocked with beach chairs, umbrellas, an additional fridge and even a surfboard! ( we didn’t use it lol) The only qualm I would say would be the living room seating. For 4 people average height and weight, 3 people were able to sit on the couch and the other in a chair. Not very comfortable. But the house was very clean upon arrival and the communication was excellent. Would stay again!

We had a nice cozy stay at Sugar Bean during our spring break trip. We were a short distance from the beach which the kids loved and they also enjoyed the private pool. I also loved all of natural light in the home.

We had a nice cozy stay at Sugar Bean during our spring break trip. We were a short distance from the beach which the kids loved and they also enjoyed the private pool. I also loved all of natural light in the home.
