For the 2025 season, a new ground-level back deck has been added to enjoy the scenic views and prepare for water activities. Love the water? Then make this beautiful Island Creek Resort beach house your home-away-from-home. Located in a semi-private waterfront resort designed for active beach life, this waterfront home is the ideal place to spend a long and relaxing getaway with someone you love. Inside, the home enjoys two levels of comfort and convenience, with lots of natural light cascading in through broad, ocean-facing windows, comfortable furniture, and plenty of space for everyone to move around. The main level boasts an open concept that encompasses the living, dining, and kitchen areas, so you can keep up with conversation, no matter what you're up to. The full kitchen includes all the appliances and counter space the family chef could ask for, and the dining table has seating for six dinner guests. You'll love taking your afternoon meals outside on the wrap-around deck, and you can wrap up an evening soaking in the lower-level's private hot tub. Spend the day on a hot-weather hike then cool off with a swim in the shared pool before coming back to spread out in the living room to watch a good movie or show on the living room's mounted flatscreen TV. Please note that the fireplace is not available for guest use. Set on Avon's pristine north end and accessible only by bridge, Island Creek Resort offers over 1,000 feet of shallow sound-front access. Windsurfers, kite surfers, kayakers, and kids will love this ultra-friendly location where miles of open Pamlico Sound facilitate launching, fishing, exploring, relaxing, or just horsing around in the water. We sure enjoyed our stay as Island Sun. The house is not fancy, but clean and just what we needed. The couches and beds are comfortable. The fishing on the sound was fantastic and we would love to rent in the Island Creek area from now on. The community pool was such a bonus for our kids. Our only suggestion is an outdoor fish cleaning station and a nice grill. Sunsets were amazing and the close proximity to everything in Avon was so nice. We stay in the area twice a year, every year and this has been one of our favorite houses.

Great windsurfing spot

Has a great wind-protected storage room good for ~5-6 rigged sails up to 7 meter size and shelves for >8 boards. Larger sails will have to be kept in 'garage' that may get some wind. Our favorite windsurfing destination!

It’s the perfect house for the wind lovers. We’ve stayed in this house before Covid and found it shabby with inadequate kitchen stuff. This time around, we were pleasantly surprised. New carpet, new furniture, well equipped kitchen. It’s now our favorite house on Island Creek.

It has a good size shed to keep your boards (up to 8 smaller and 4 long ones), can also hang 5-6 sails there, they are safe even with very strong winds. Largest sail size that fits through the door is 7.5 m2. Larger ones can be kept in garage, but be aware of wind direction. Next to the left is a deeper place (canal) good for foiling, we used 60 cm masts with foils in spring, works. How was clean and ready by early afternoon. House was in good condition for a rental. Beds were much better than other houses we have used. The ramp into the water and riprap along bulkhead is not friendly to get windsurfing equipment in and out of water in high onshore winds.

Perfect for windsurfing - has a nice storage room for ~10 boards plus you can hang 4-5 sails of up to 6.7 m2 (larger do not fit through the door, but can store in garage space). Windfoiling was reasonable in spring, but there were too many weeds in fall. Weed fin is a must.

We loved being on the Sound - beautiful views. Great for kayaking, kite surfing and paddle boards... Enjoyed meals on the deck and a less than 10 min walk to the beach. Kitchen could use a few additional items, but is relatively well stocked. Great coffee maker - uses K-pods or ground coffee. Beds were comfortable and the layout of the house worked well for our group of 5. AC went out on our first full day and Vacasa had someone out to us within several hours which was much appreciated.

Large home right on the sound. Absolutely amazing sunsets from the large, wrap around decks. If you like kayaking and water sports, this is the place to be. Dock your boat and jet ski right at your back door. Hot tub with beautiful sound side views !! Unlimited fishing and crabbing in your back yard. Negatives: The house is older and needs many renovations. Toilets clog after use. We had to plunge several times a day. Water goes down drains extremely slow when hand washing dishes. Dish washer did not appear to be working. Seems like the home could really use a good once over with maintenance and a thorough cleaning. We were pleasantly surprised when early check in was offered free of charge at 1 pm but very disappointed with the cleanliness of the home when we arrived. Furniture and stove/oven/microwave all very dirty. Floors were not vacuumed. Over all a wonderful trip thanks to the beautiful water front property, but I suggest a better cleaning company and having maintenance come in and handle some repairs and upgrades.

Went there for a windsurfing/Kiteboarding trip. The access to the water is amazing. The water is shallow about 3 feet so great for learning for the kids. Could've been a bit windier. The place is not magnificent but its location is perfect. So I give it five stars. It just amazes me that these houses can exist here and don't get what the way by the hurricane. Inside was clean. Had everything we needed. We rented this house and the one next-door which was great for two families as well as my parents. The toaster was broken but they quickly replaced it including replacing grill items. Be sure to bring beach towels. A few more towels for the bathrooms would've been appreciated and I'm sure they would have delivered them if we asked. Really nothing negative to say. Some people may not think these houses are in tiptop shape but I'm just amazed that they still exist in this beautiful coastline.

This home exceeded my expectations in every way. When I booked the home I was not sure of the exact location or what to expect and I just went with it! Everything was perfect; from booking with Vacasa right up to the day we left and the app made it so easy. The Sunsets from our deck were spectacular.. they had us eating dinner every night at the house! Plenty of room for all 6 of us and the dogs! We very much appreciated the pet friendly accommodations and the dogs loved playing in the water. We had a blast on the paddle boards and kayaks, with the rental facility so close it was super convenient. The walk to the beach was swift and the beach was beautiful with clean sands and NO crowds. However, we Loved our evenings surrounded by the Pamlico Sound...and did I mention the Sunsets!! Can't say enough! Thank you Island Sun #1 for the treasured memories! See you next year!
