New for 2025/26: WE ARE THRILLED about the enhancements made for our guests in the 2025/26 SEASON that have significantly elevated your experience in the home: - Each bedroom has been refreshed with new bedding and artwork, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. - The master bedroom features brand-new furniture to enhance comfort and style. - Living room areas have also received modern furniture updates, which are perfect for relaxation and socializing. - The kitchen is now equipped with new double ovens, making meal preparation enjoyable and efficient. In terms of aesthetics and functionality, the upper-level windows have been upgraded to large-picture windows. This change not only beautifies the views of the sunsets but also allows for an abundance of natural light, complemented by custom woodwork trim and stylish shiplap accents. On the exterior, we've introduced all-new railings on the decks and stylish beach-themed furniture, adding both safety and charm to your outdoor experience. We can't wait for you to enjoy these exciting updates!

Situated on almost eight acres of land, The Oaks offers privacy, seclusion, and close proximity to all of the activities Kinnakeet Shores has to offer. The Oaks is the crown jewel of Kinnakeet Shores, offering seven large main-bedroom suites and a full array of amenities. The Oaks has two carports, ground-floor elevator access, covered showers, and a hot tub and pool with sun decks. A large game room with a pool table, an entertainment center, a fridge, and a wet bar overlooks the sound and covered terraces. The laundry is close by on the third-floor landing.

Crowning The Oaks is the fourth-level great room with 18-foot ceilings, panoramic vistas, a fireplace, upscale furnishings, and an entertainment system. The world-class kitchen with granite countertops is perfect for large groups. This beautiful home offers a host of activities. The Oaks' 1,800-foot private boardwalk winds through a bird and wildlife refuge, making it a nature lover's paradise. At the sound front, the path opens to a large deck ideal for windsurfing, kayaking, crabbing, sunbathing, and fishing. Enjoy private access and explore the scenic soundfront beach while observing a wide variety of wildlife.

In addition to the home's private pool, you have access to two other pools - the Kinnakeet Shores community pool and tennis courts complex and the Club Hatteras pool. With so much to offer, The Oaks is a unique vacation experience.

Great location, fun walk down the dock to the sound and a moderately easy walk to the ocean. There were carts available to lug beach gear which is very helpful! Beautiful view from the top floors and the upper deck is a nice treat! Would book again!

We'd been looking forward to our family reunion at The Oaks for a year, and we were thrilled with the pool, the private beach accessed by stairs from the elevated walkway over the natural area, the kayaks and paddle boards that came with the house, and the enormous and well-stocked kitchen. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were roomy and nicely decorated. What a shock that the notice of mandatory emergency evacuation arrived on the same day that we did! We never fully unpacked? We had one entire day to enjoy the property before we had to leave. We hope to come back! One suggestion I might make - we had four young children, and we had to buy unbreakable cups - the ones on hand were too large for young hands - and the house at Nags Head that we were able to move to had a few small unbreakable plates that we used for the kiddos. Otherwise, we all LOVED the property and hated to leave. --sigh--

All of the upgrades from deck furniture to painting in the Great room, dining area and kitchen with shiplap around the fireplace and new windows in the dining area plus new furniture in the Master on top level to new bedding for all rooms are such a great asset. The new furnishings in the Great room with new wall ovens, and refridgerators in the kitchen as well as the Billard room are much appreciated. Overall a wonderful week was had by all with a magnificient ultimate lightning show to see out of the new windows in the Great room the night B4 we left..... Everyone in our family of 12 had a blast with the special private pier and all the equipment available to use in the sound. Such an impressive Beach Cottage - thanks for sharing your home with us.

This was an amazing stay. Our non-profit org, A Mother's Rest, coordinates wellness & respite retreats exclusively for special needs moms and other full-time family caregivers. This property was a great location, with fabulous views and amenities. The private dock to the Sound and the private beach was awesome. So quiet and secluded, perfect for tired moms resting and enjoying the peace. Close to great restaurants, shops, and the beach. The windows were SO CLEAN, inside and out. We really appreciated that little detail. Love all of the updated decor too. The elevator is helpful for our older moms who can't do stairs as easy as we used to lol We're already booked for three other weekends this year, including a Couples retreat. We're hoping to book many times for next year

The Oaks is a really special place! We got in around sunset and were immediately astonished by the view over the Pamlico Sound. From the top floor, you look out over acres of private wetland, a long private dock, and the sound which is West and so perfect for sunsets. We timed the rest of our dinners and activities around sunset it was so magical. The house itself was very clean and had amazing amenities for a large group of friends-- each room had its own bathroom, and the elevator was handy for loading food and supplies up to the top floor for the weekend. Hot tub was great. Not related to the house itself, but we had trouble getting simple questions answered through Vacasa, such as how to access the pickleball courts. We eventually figured it out, but it would have been nice if there were an easier way to contact someone who knows about the house more locally. Overall, it was an amazing stay and we would definitely go back.

We had a wonderful vacation! The elevator is such a blessing for large families and older family members as well as older pets! If not for the elevator I don't think we would be able to continue as the stairs become quite teadious! We love this home and we have so many memories from many years of visiting. Location is great and the sound side view and access is amazing! Enjoy...

Loved this house and ALL the amenities plus the private dock~ our grandson got engaged on the beach at the end of the dock this year after his fiancé’s 7th year with us for our Family Beach Week….. It is the first time we were able to rent this cottage after coming to Hatteras Island for last 12 years with our Family. Unfortunately it will be our last time for this one because of the $10,000 increase for one week’s stay

LOVE LOVE LOVE THE 2000' DOCK, THE PRIVATE BEACH ON THE PAMLICO, & THE GOD GIVEN SUNSETS. LOTS OF SPACE TO COMMUNE OR ISOLATE. THE WELL APPOINTED KITCHEN HAS A SPECTACULAR VIEW AS DO ALL PORCHES AND ROOMS! THE ELEVATOR MAKES IT EASY BUT THEMY STEPS WORK THE LEGS & CORE! MY DOG LOVES THE WHOLE SHABANG AS DOES MY HUBS. CLOSE TO BUXTON, THE LIGHTHOUSES, & SUPER SURFING AND FISHING... I REPEAT I WISH THIS WAS OUR HOME.

Perfect house for a group that wants to be together but also have some privacy. We loved the amenities and used them all. Furniture might look outdated but everything is in great shape. Grocery Store and Pier so close was a bonus also. We loved our week there !

we have been doing family vacations to the OBX for more than 30 years. Last year we switched to The Oaks and we love it! we appreciate that the owners are making changes to ensure that the kitchen, elevator, etc. are all working and up-to-date. The design and furniture of the house are very comfortable. They have many amenities to make the stay even better (although a new grill would be great!). We have signed up for next year.

The surroundings are just as described. Right by the forest by the sound, wonderful walk through the path to the private pier. The family got lots of fishing done, and even with some pretty bad weather we had a great time. The house has a great layout, which accommodated our family well - almost all of the beds are King size, and enough smaller beds for the younger ones. About the only issue we had (other than some minor maintenance issues) was dealing with rainy days where the rain dripped through the decks. Hot tub plus a shower!

Really enjoyed spending the week in this house with friends that traveled here from all over the country. The private pier and beach area can't be beat. Only issue was that for paying $420 extra for pool heat I think the guests should be able to control the temperature as it was set at 82 degrees but that's a bit chilly in early June for pool water.

The private boardwalk to the sound was awesome! The pool was nice, once we finally got the heat turned on. The layout was perfect for us (a couple - early 50s) with two teenage boys, my mom, my niece and her boyfriend and my daughter-in-law and our 1-year-old grandson. Close to Food Lion and on our favorite island, Avon!

This place is very nice! There wasn't anything more you could ask for in this house...no convenience was left out! All the rest rooms, game room, theater room, hot tub, pool, outside shower, elevator, jet tub, spacious kitchen and living room, multiple appliances, ample parking...if you made up a wish list, this house checked it off!

Our stay was wonderful! The house was so big, clean and it accommodated our family very well! The private dock, beach and pool were glorious amenities to the house. We met the owners twice. Once while checking the house out before we stayed there because we live a few hours away, and then the second time, when we arrived. They were such an awesome couple! We would definitely recommend staying here to anyone!

This is a wonderful home that gives you views of the sound that are second to none! The private sound side beach area was great for the kids. It’s calm, warm and not deep. Between the ocean, the sound and the amenities in the house there was always something to do.

We just returned from a week-long stay at The Oaks and can't stop talking about it. The house is beautiful, spacious and well-appointed. The access to the sound is great; we were able to take the dogs to their own private beach, fish off the pier, kayak and quickly walk/bike/scooter out to the water. The set-up of the house is wonderful. We had 13 adults and everyone had their own space and bathroom. The beach club access was great to be able to park right at the beach. And, oh, the sunsets! We had one small issue arise during our stay and the owners came right by to fix it. We couldn't have asked for anything more - perfect vacation house for a big group!
