AVKS239 Damn Yankee #39-2

We had a wonderful stay at Damn Yankee. The new living room furniture is wonderful! Just a few other comments: 1) A large crockpot would be very helpful in the kitchen. We have had to bring our own. 2) All of the cooking knives are dull. We ended up buying 3 sharp knives from Ace Hardware and left them there for other renters. 3) A hand railing would be very helpful for the final section of stairs leading up to the living room. One of our housemates is somewhat mobility challenged, and had difficulty making it up those last stairs without a railing.

This was our 4th year staying in Damn Yankee. We love this house. We love the empty lot across the street that makes it like oceanfront. Clean. Nice selection of books, puzzles, games. We'll equipped kitchen.

Great house with wonderful natural lighting, nice views, and comfy everything. The top level covered porch was a family favorite at all times of the day. Hot tub chillaxing each night before bed was a treat. Easy, short walk to beach access. Close to grocery store, beach gear shop and restaurants. We had an amazing week and would stay here again.

We enjoyed a very relaxing family vacation at Damn Yankee. The view from the porch and kitchen window is the best part of the house! The porch has a variety of comfortable chairs. Great for morning coffee and afternoon/evening cocktails! We made most meals at the house and the kitchen was well supplied with pots, pans, and serving utensils. Large table to for meals and games. It's a quick walk to the beach. We enjoyed playing in the water, fishing and kite flying. The house had a few chairs we could take to the beach, as well a bikes to ride to the local shops/restaurants. We are hoping to return to Damn Yankee on our next visit to Avon!

Great location and house. Unobstructed views of the ocean with a top level covered deck area. Views of the ocean from the second floor deck/hot tub. Well stocked kitchen and comfy beds.

I’ve been to the Outerbanks numerous times and the Damn Yankee was by far the best house I’ve stayed in. Very clean and fully stocked with everything you need. The coffee lover in me appreciated all the coffee making options- drip machine, K-cup, pour over and espresso machine. Loads of good books and games. Our family played board and card games every night. Location of home is perfect! Restaurants and shops are all within walking distance. Empty lot across from the home makes for a great view of the ocean. Home is great for families. We had two adults and two teenagers and everyone had their own space. Also, loved the closet in the garage that had bikes, basketballs and tons of beach toys. We will definitely be retuning to the Damn Yankee! Thank you for making our vacation great!

The house was perfect for our families to come together and have Thanksgiving in Hatteras. Great for the small children with lots of baby things we could use, incredibly equipped kitchen, and an extra storage room with beach toys and even bikes. The house being set back from the beach but still have a view of the ocean was nice too! Very impressed and we had a wonderful time. Would definitely book again.

What a wonderful place! Even though you are across the street from the ocean the view from the upstairs deck makes you feel like you are on the beach. The added feature of the luggage lift helps with hauling of luggage, groceries, etc. up the 4 stairs. This place is clean and decorated well. I would highly recommend this property to any interested in a stay on the OBX.

Spacious, close to beach, nice area to take a morning walk,nice outside seating. Could use some up dates, a new jacuzzi, and the tv in master suite needs to be fixed.

We enjoyed our Avon vacation at Damn Yankee. The house was spacious, clean and comfortable for our family. The empty lot at the oceanfront allowed the perfect view of the ocean! The kitchen table, deck furniture, and outdoor lift were appreciated! We spent wonderful, long days at the ocean gathering with extended families staying nearby. We also enjoyed our first beach bonfire and the proximity to the Food Lion. You will not be disappointed!

This ia a wonderful property wirh a great location in Avon. Public access to the beach practically across the street. Property was very clean and modern. Fantastic view of the ocean. My only complaint is there is not alot of countertop surfaces for food prep. Lots of very good restaurants within a mile of the house. I have already booked it for this October and May 2024, thats how much i think of this house.

No complaints .. it's just as described (even better) the weather wasn't great so we spent alot of time at the house. Cooked alot the kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfortable and the house was very clean.

Property is well equipped with all amenities including beach chairs, etc., so you don't need to bring much other than beach clothes. The house is not directly on the beach, but because the lot between Damn Yankees and the beach has not been built on, the view of the ocean from the front east facing decks of the house is a close second. Vacasa property management made getting in and out easy. We've rented this house twice, and probably will again.

My family spent a week at Damn Yankees during our kids' spring break. The location was great and the house was perfect for a family of 7. We were a little confused about the beach access, but it was very convenient about 4 houses down and right across the street. We hope to return in the future.

The kitchen has everything you need (except a really good knife, but I’m picky). We couldn’t figure out the TV, which isn’t a huge problem but would would have been nice on the rainy days. Overall a really great spot.

My husband and I couldn’t be happier with our stay at “Damn Yankee”. We enjoyed the ocean views from both decks, nightly soaks in the hot tub and the very short walk to the beach. A wonderful stay. We’d definitely recommend the home and would definitely return.

The house was exactly what we’d hoped for- quiet, comfortable and near the beach. Beach access was steps away. We enjoyed the ocean view from inside and out. The hot tub was relaxing and the house was equipped with most everything we needed. There is also a mechanical cargo lift to carry up luggage, etc… so you don’t have to lug it up three flights of stairs (I just wish we’d have noticed it BEFORE we hauled everything up on our own!). We’d definitely recommend the house and will return again if we can.

Location was awesome! Beautiful view of ocean. Also received gift basket from owner. Very nice. Issues: check in went from 4 pm from booking date to 5 pm a few weeks out then day of arrival it was 6 pm. However we were offered accommodations at the pool during our wait time. Cleanliness of house was not up to par for price paid. Property mgt was advised.

Can’t say enough wonderful things about this house. Awesome view!! Two minute walk on highway that hardly ever had traffic to great beach access. Loved the beach decor in house. The only negative thing I have to say is about the cleaning service. They did not do a thorough cleaning. Other than that, it’s amazing!!

The normal 6-7 hour drive took over 9, but it was worth it. The property location, house amenities and overall condition are excellent. We had one hiccup with the dishwasher, but the maintenance guy, Wayne, responded immediately and was superb. We will definitely look to rent Damn Yankee again in the future.

We recently stayed a week at the Damn Yankee home. Everything was as pictured. The only complaint is only 1 TV worked. Apparently the owner did not leave Roku passwords so you could login in and use the ones in the bedrooms. The rest of the house was clean and sufficiently stocked. We would stay there again, but need to correct the TV's especially for multiple couples or families using this property.
