We've been returning to this home away from home for over a decade. It's hard to imagine finding a cozier cottage with better views than Spyglass Hill.

This is easily one of the nicest and most comfortable VRBO properties that we’ve ever rented (10). The owners have obviously gone above and beyond in their care of the property as well as making sure that our stay was unforgettable. We had a great week and definitely plan on coming back.

We have rented a number of homes up and down the East Coast, and this is certainly the nicest, best maintained, and most comfortable home that we've ever stayed in. Everything about our stay and the week on the Outer Banks was perfect.

Cottage is true to photos - a comfortable and tranquil location. Screened porch offers wonderful views of the sunset. Nearby sound beach is a short walk up the street- just bring plenty of bug spray. The kitchen is well appointed. We enjoyed all of the beaches and amenities of Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras Village. Thanks for a great week!

Over the past 20 years of coming to the OBX, this was one of the most enjoyable times we’ve experienced. The Frisco house was PERFECT for our family. It was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and the views of the sound and marsh were amazing. The screened porch was enjoyed in the evenings to view beautiful sunsets and we were able to cook fresh seafood in the well-appointed kitchen. We will definitely consider Spyglass Hill for future trips to Hatteras. Dottie and Brew (our four-legged family members) enjoyed it too! Thank you for the memories. We’ll be back!

Spyglass Hill was clean and well-appointed. The screened porch/deck was excellent for bird watching, reading, and dining. The decor was lovely, furniture was comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable.

Spyglass Hill was the perfect getaway for us: the home itself was immaculate when we arrived and is beautifully decorated - it is warm and welcoming! It does not feel like a vacation rental, it feels like a well cared-for bed and breakfast, complete with cozy corners and stunning views. Geographically, we were perfectly situated - and we made the most of our week! We visited the Frisco beaches, took surf lessons, fished in Hatteras Village, spent a day in Ocracoke, visited many island restaurants ... we did it all! The Sound-side beach near the house was a fan favorite among our kids (even the older ones!): we found TONS of hermit crabs there and the kids loved playing out in the water. We took a picnic down there one night and the kids played while we ate and enjoyed the sunset! (Just don't forget bug spray!!). The kitchen at the house was fully equipped, which made cooking and eating at home a truly enjoyable experience. But our favorite moments from the week, hands-down (and we voted, so this was collective!) were the ones we spent on the beautiful screened-in back porch, playing games together, enjoying morning coffee or evening cocktails, watching the wildlife and the incredible sunsets (and especially enjoying the latter from the hot tub!!). What a truly special and magical place. We hope to return soon!!

We loved the location. Enjoying morning coffee overlooking the sound was perfect. There was lots of room for my wife and I and our 2 teenage boys. It was so comfortable and felt like home. We enjoyed every min here and plan on coming back again.

The property was perfect and has everything we needed for a weeks stay. The home was clean and everything was provided for. 5:00pm is a late check in and I would recommend changing it to around 3:00pm.

The screened in back porch and the private porch off the master bedroom! Both overlooked the marsh and sound. It felt as though we were in our own little world at Spyglass. We were able to watch the beautiful sunsets with ease as well as watch wildlife from both porches. The location was perfect close enough to Hatteras and Avon, with Buxton nestled in between both. We will return to Spyglass Hill!

House was full of character and everything was it it’s place. Owner was great to explain every detail. Each guest throughly enjoyed. 🙂

The house is on a hill overlooking a marsh. The house also has a large screened porch where you can view the wildlife without being bothered by biting insects. It is excellent for a wildlife lover. We saw different types of egrets, cranes, herons, ospreys along with the usual mix of birds. Deer and a raccoon were also seen. The owners of the house have put a lot of love into making the house feel like home. It is not a cookie cutter beach house. The bedrooms not too close to each other so you have a feeling of seclusion in all three. Four of us stayed at the house and we all thought it was our favorite.

The house was great, the location on the marsh spectacular, and physical location, convenient to everything. We enjoyed it very much. Also really appreciate both an un-enclosed porch and enclosed relative to weather and bugs. This house had it all.

My second stay did not disappoint. I arrived to a clean, beautiful vacation home that was well organized , beautifully decorated and appointed, with amazing views and lots of peace and quiet! The fact that it’s dog friendly is icing in the cake, as my boy loves staying here as much as I do!

Our family loved our stay at SpyGlass Hill. We were close to restaurants and activities, but being tucked into the neighborhood provided some peaceful time too. The views of the sound and the marsh were incredible - we even say some otters at play as well! Cannot wait for our next visit.

The best house rental my husband and I have stayed in, hands down. The house felt like my own, the views were incredible, the upkeep of the home was excellent, the neighborhood was quiet and residential, the private beach access down the street was great - tell me when to stop raving! The most relaxing and satisfying beach trip I have ever taken, will be back to OBX soon and will definitely stay at this house!

This is by far one of the cutest cottages we have stayed in on Hatteras Island. This house is so well decorated and stocked with everything you need to make yourself at home. The view is amazing from the back decks. Super short walk to a cute little beach area down the road that is perfect for wading or other water sports. Would recommend to anyone!!
