Hazy Sunset is a wonderful home away from home. The house was very clean and well maintained. The layout with entry from the garage of only 5 steps made unloading and loading very manageable for two seniors (not high school seniors!). The extra handholds on the steps to the bedroom level were much appreciated. Hazy Sunset is nicely and comfortably decorated. The kitchen is well stocked. We mostly eat in so a good kitchen is important to us. The hottub was so nice. The new deck chairs are really nice. The area is very quiet and peaceful. We arrived exhausted and left replenished. The only thing we could possibly ask for would be handheld shower heads. This is our 2nd time staying in Hazy Sunset and we plan to rent again, hopefully in the Fall, definitely in the Spring! Having never been to this property before we weren’t sure what to expect. It was a long stressful day’s travel so it was a great relief to find such a beautiful home as our destination. Very clean and well maintained, with all the amenities which we would expect. Being right on the water, the views were fabulous and we were treated to some beautiful sunsets, as well as up close views of herons, pelicans, etc. Being a windsurfer, I found this to be a gem of a spot for sailing. There was an easy trail down to the back of the house with plenty of room for rigging, then a simple entry into the water. After a sailing session I would take a hot shower in the outside shower and then immediately soak in the hot tub which was on the same deck. Totally spoiled! The home was very private, without other homes up close and is in a beautiful old neighborhood, which is extremely quiet. In short, we loved it and will definitely be back.

The home itself was absolutely wonderful. It is evident that the owners truly want their renters to have a great vacation. The property management, Vacasa, on the other hand ruined our family vacation. In addition to the lack of cleanliness (beds unmade, comforters filthy, dog hair everywhere, used bar soap in the shower, and piles of swept up dirt/hair/sand), within 24hrs of arrival, we received two calls from Vacasa with complaints of occupancy and smoking-which were inaccurate and false. We asked for clarification on where they were receiving this information-as we noticed several cameras on the property-and were told that neighbors were reporting this. This was an absolute invasion of our privacy, especially considering my children were being watched.

My husband and I spent our 11th anniversary week at the Hazy Sunset overlooking the sound. From the evening we arrived, the sunsets were gorgeous and even on a few cloudy days, the sky was still beautiful. We spent a great deal of time out on the deck (even if it was a little chilly a few days) - especially enjoying our morning coffee. We saw a variety of birds (one particular diving duck that would disappear for over a minute), deer over on the marsh and a stingray swimming next to the shore. A small sailboat was anchored for a few days offshore which made for some nice photos and we also saw people walking far out into the sound to fish which was very interesting. We were also treated to a few powerful storms and it was cool to sit on the deck and see the lightning in the distance coming across the sound. (We DID go inside when we felt it was getting too close.) Our 10 year old dog joined us. He doesn't do well on a lot of stairs, so having the short steps into the garage and only a few steps out to the road was nice. His favorite place to walk (when we didn't go to the beach) was down the trail next to the property to the little sandy beach on the sound. He enjoyed wading in the water there and hanging out on the deck with us. It would be helpful to put a baby gate on the entrance to the covered porch so wandering dogs and kids can stay put. We moved a few things around on the covered porch to keep our dog from wandering off. We had a great time biking, flying a stunt kite at the beach (it was really windy a few days), walking the nature trail at Buxton Woods (just gorgeous), visiting the Native American museum (artifacts from all over the US - very cool place) and we took a guided kayak tour with Julia at Slash Creek Outfitters in Hatteras Village. She was super knowledgeable of the area. After all the activity, the hot tub was just awesome and we slept well! We loved the house and the location. It was very private. Hoping to visit again soon!

We have stayed at Hazy Sunset several times and love it. The sunsets are amazing! The house is comfortable and accommodating for families and pets. Close to all of the nearby beaches and restaurants. We can’t wait for our next visit!

We were very happy with this home. It is well equipped and was very clean. There is easy access to a sand beach right off the back deck. Kayak launching was very easy as well.

Hazy Sunset offers expansive views of the sound and the privacy you want on a Hatteras Island vacation. Epic Sunsets and fabulous stargazing. Comfortable furnishing, lots of book and games, and an extra spacious kitchen made this a fabulous vacation home for our family.

Great location with a little beach next door and water access under the house. The great room and porch upstairs have a great view of the sunset and are fun for bird watching. Nice big kitchen with good equipment. The hot tub was scrummy.

My and family and I had a great week at Hazy Sunset. We loved the house, especially the deck that presented us a 180-degree view of the sound. We had most of our meals on the covered deck, and our two small dogs loved hanging out on the deck with us. The hot tub was nice as we watched the sun set on the water. We also took our pups to the little beach and they played in the water. All in all, the house was great! Lots of room to spread out, lots of games for the one rainy day we spent indoors, all the equipment you might need in the kitchen. But the what we enjoyed the most was that deck that looked over the sound and gave us the spectacular sunsets. Five stars!

We really enjoyed our stay -- the house has a great open floor plan, it's beautifully furnished, and the kitchen is huge and very well-equipped. But what we really loved was the location -- perfect view of the sound, we enjoyed it even when the weather was windy and cold. Would love to return in warmer weather!
