Making Memories is centrally located on the first floor and conveniently located next to the coin-operated laundry facility (which even offers an ocean view). The Durant Station Condominiums offer spectacular ocean views from every property. All condos have private, 28-foot oceanfront decks, as well as sound side decks for viewing colorful sunsets. Elevator service to all levels makes Durant Station a most convenient choice for all ages: no need to haul luggage and groceries up long flights of stairs! Guests are just a few short steps to the ocean via a private wooden walkway. The Hatteras area offers some of the best fishing and sunbathing on the East Coast. At Durant Station, you'll enjoy a host of amenities including one of Hatteras Islands' largest private pools with an adjacent hot tub available from April 1 to January 1. The Durant Station Community Center is 'crowned' by the original historic Durant Lifesaving Station tower, a rich piece of Hatteras Islands past. You'll find the Community Center ideal for relaxing with friends, conducting meetings, wedding parties, and receptions, or simply enjoying the lounge areas, which offer a 50' plasma TV, pool table, gas fireplace, and a complete kitchen on the upper level. The Durant Station Complex consists of three floors, which start about 12 feet above the ground. The parking lot and walks are paved with concrete. All retreats are tastefully furnished and fully equipped with linens to make your stay comfortable as well as memorable. THINGS TO KNOW This home has access to a community pool, the community pools in our area are typically open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Community pools are operated at the discretion of the community HOA so the availability schedule may be subject to change without notice.

We've stayed at Making Memories previously in both the Spring & Summer but the Fall vibe in Hatteras is much different (in a very good way!) We certainly enjoyed our stay, the weather was nice (not too hot) & all the restaurants / businesses & vacationers were "chill" at this time of year!

This property is in great location. The unit was nice , kitchen well stocked. Close to beach and pool and hot tub were nice as well. This was second time we stayed on this property and both units were nice. Highly recommend for a great family vacation.

Peaceful stay, I really needed it. The deck was my favorite place. Short walk to the beach, short walk to the pool. I will be back next year!

Here’s the thing, I take great issue with Vacasa, air bnb, and other multibillion dollar companies buying out smaller realtor companies. When I call about a specific property, such as Durant Station, I want to talk to a local. Not someone in Silicon Valley or whoever who is just reading off information already provided in the listing. We have been staying at Durant Station intermittently for about a decade. Absolutely love it there. This year I made the mistake of booking before Memorial Day (before pools are usually open). I called Vacasa just for them to read off the generalized listing that the pools (in the area) typically aren’t open until after Memorial Day. I wanted to know about this property specifically. Luckily, I know a guy who knows a guy who owns one of condos and he was able to confirm that the pool was in fact open. Very happy about that. Vacasa is 🗑️, a bloated company that is turning vocational rentals into one big greedy monopoly. Airbnb is even worse. I understand, however, from the homeowners’ perspective that it puts you in a position where you either use the cite or are unable to rent your home. Anywayyyy, I have already booked Making Memories for next May. It’s perfect for a larger family, the laundry is on the first floor, and I don’t want to be too high off the ground with little kids. It’s quiet, clean, serene. The stove doesn’t get as hot as it should but that’s minor.

The Durant Condos are so convenient to the Hatteras beach & Condo pool...& we also found several fine dining establishments in close proximity...just a very nice location to spend a beach vacation!

We had a great time in Hatteras. Our condo at Durant Station was perfect. Nice view of the ocean and sunsets on the front side of property. Highly recommended!!

We were out on the beach every day...& the Durant Condo's are just a quick walk from the beach when we needed a quick break.
