WVLW5 House of the Rising Sun

We were pleasantly surprised by this house, it accommodated all our needs. We had 8 adults and 2 dogs. It is a short walk to the beach (you do have to go up a small sand dune) to get there. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. We are definitely booking this property again

Highly recommend this house for vacation! Very clean and has everything you would need for your stay. One complaint is, I asked for the pool to be heated and it was not. Despite them telling me the heater was on, I know it was not! (I know about pools) Never kicked on once when we were down there. Pool service came out three days later, never addressed the hot tub, level way below jets. Tried to catch the pool service after we got back from the beach, was in and out before I could catch him. No refund for the heat charge, after multiple attempts of getting someone to come to the house to discuss the matter, no one came. Should of been more vocal about my complaint, but I on was on vacation. Just didn't want to deal with it. Recommend getting a new pool service!

However, we sincerely apologize for your dissatisfaction with the pool heating and the service you received during your stay. To clarify, the pool heaters are set to maintain a temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the water reaches this temperature, the heaters will turn off and will reactivate when the temperature drops by 2 to 5 degrees. This cycling is designed to keep the pool at a comfortable and consistent temperature. We also acknowledge your concerns regarding the pool service and hot tub maintenance. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and want you to know that we take your feedback seriously. This is not the level of service we strive to provide. The House of the Rising Sun was spacious, clean and well equipped. It was close to both the bay and the ocean. There was plenty of seating for the eight of us. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I were looking for a great spot, not too far from the beach that we could just relax and kick back after the Holidays. This was a perfect house for that. We ventured out a few times and found some local restaurants that were still open off season. The house was very comfortable and the wifi and cable worked great. We loved the fact that we could bring our Corgi with us as well. It was a bit off the beaten path, but that is what we wanted. I highly recommend this house and would definitely would stay here again!

since the ocean was winding and rough the grandkids loved the pool and we felt comfortable since the deep end was only 5 1/2 ft. deep. Pool was kept clean as well as hot tub. Vacasa had the home clean and spotless. Loved the top living space...very open and spacious. Has billard table and plenty of bedrooms and one is great for kids since it has bunk beds. Overall a great stay.

We had an amazing time at House of the Rising Sun. It had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. You can't go wrong with this house. It's in the perfect area. Thank you for opening your home to us and we cannot wait to come back next year. Vicasa was amazing and I highly recommend them as your rental agent.

We enjoyed staying at this house. Our in-laws are in their 70's so they struggled a bit with all the stairs to get in and out of the property but managed ok. We didn't pay extra to heat the pool so it was still a bit cool to enjoy it in May. We enjoyed the bulk of our time sitting on the beach and enjoying the relaxing waves. The beach access is just at the end of the street. We loved that there was not much traffic on this street. We also enjoyed going to eat at Waterman's Restaurant on Saturday so we could watch all the kiteboards. The three levels of the house allowed everyone room to relax. We liked the keyless entry so we could check-in when it was ready and we weren't worried about losing house keys. The top decks were great in the evening to watch the sunsets.

What a great house! We stayed here during this past Nor' Easter. The major road in and out of OBX was closed so we spent plenty of time in the house and out for very short drives south towards Avon and Buxton. The house had everything you could need, was clean for the most part, just needed cleaning in the bureau drawers and behind the toilets, other than that it was clean! The listing states there is a hair dryer but we could not find one. The walk to the beach is very short, local deli's/market places, coffee shops. When the road was open it was about a 25 minute drive to the next major town in Kitty Hawk. Lots of restaurants and shopping. There is a shipwreck (the Priscilla) you can see from the beach, located just north of Avon.

The top floor living space is even nicer in person. The sunset views from the decks were incredible and despite being a few lots lots back from the beach we could still hear the ocean and its an easy quick walk. The bikes were a nice addition and we used them to head to Real for kite boarding and to pick up take out food. Lots to do in the off-season with horseshoes, pool table and hot tub. Great stay for a family vacation.
